Melissa Crespo is NYC based and most known as a director of theater, opera and film, especially with new work. She recently directed the world premiere of form of a girl unknown by Charly Evon Simpson (Salt Lake Acting Company), and her production of Native Gardens by Karen Zacarías was co-produced at Syracuse Stage, Geva Theatre Center and Portland Center Stage. She will direct Maria Irene Forńes & Al Carmine’s musical Promenade as the Artist-in-Residence at NYU Tisch’s in Spring 2020. Internationally, she directed Tar Baby by Desiree Burch and Dan Kitrosser in NYC, Edinburgh, London, Finland and New Zealand. Fellowships & Residencies: Time Warner Fellow (WP Theatre), Usual Suspect (NYTW), The Director’s Project (Drama League), Van Lier Directing Fellow (Second Stage Theatre), and the Allen Lee Hughes Directing Fellow (Arena Stage).
